KPC Football

The Kohima Press Club, with its members having to report all topics without particular beats, ranging from politics, health, religion, music and culture to sports, has always been closely associated with organizations from all fields, especially sports. Besides having its own sports event every year, the Kohima Press Club also plays football friendlies with different prominent football clubs and tournament organizers.
- Challenger Cup was an annual football exhibition match played between the Kohima Press Club and Classic Club Kohima played annually from 2006 to 2019 as a mark of camaraderie and friendship among the members of the two Clubs. The friendly match was a regular feature of one of the state’s premier football tournament Classic Cup, organized by the Classic Club Kohima.

- Xavier Rutsa Memorial Trophy: In June 2018, Kohima Press Club lost its serving President Xavier Rutsa, who was also a big sports afficionado. He was a founding member of Kohima Press Club and Kohima Town Club, which organizes schools and grassroots level football tournaments in the state capital.
The two Clubs played the Xavier Rutsa Memorial Trophy, in 2018, 2019 and 2022. Kohima Town Club won the first two years, but Kohima Press Club came back stronger to win the memorial trophy in 2022. - The Kohima Press Club also plays friendly football matches with other organizations as and when time permits.
In 2023, Kohima Press Club played an exhibition match with the organizers of Morning Premier League.
